AI-Law fixed-fee review
Frequently Asked Questions
What is AI-LAW?
AI-LAW.COM.AU is operated as a fixed-fee legal assessment platform of Baker Merz Lawyers. It helps customers submit documents and information for a lawyer-reviewed written assessment.
Is AI-LAW a law firm?
AI-LAW is operated as a platform of Baker Merz Lawyers. Legal assessments are prepared and reviewed by Australian solicitors through Baker Merz Lawyers. Principal: Hugo Alberto Merolla.
Is the assessment prepared by AI?
AI-assisted workflows may help organise documents, dates, chronology, issues and missing information. AI does not replace the solicitor. The final written assessment is prepared and reviewed by an Australian solicitor.
What do I receive for AUD $699 including GST?
You receive a fixed-fee written assessment based on the information and documents you provide. The assessment explains the apparent issues, risks, practical options and possible next steps based on the material reviewed.
How long does the assessment take?
AI-LAW aims to provide the written assessment within 48 hours after payment and receipt of complete usable material.
What documents should I upload?
Upload the documents relevant to your issue, including contracts, emails, notices, invoices, screenshots, letters, court or tribunal documents, photographs and other supporting material.
Can AI-LAW contact the other side or represent me?
No. The fixed-fee review does not include contacting the other side, court appearances, negotiations, drafting pleadings, filing documents or ongoing carriage of the matter unless separately agreed.
What if my matter is urgent?
Customers remain responsible for protecting their own position and complying with any deadlines unless AI-LAW or another solicitor separately agrees to take further action. The fixed-fee review is not an emergency or urgent injunction service.
Can I obtain further legal assistance after the assessment?
Yes. If appropriate, further fixed-fee work or legal representation may be discussed separately after the initial assessment.
What types of matters can be reviewed?
AI-LAW may assist with a broad range of Australian legal and commercial disputes, including contract disputes, debt matters, employment issues, business disputes, property-related issues, tribunal matters, letters of demand and documents requiring review.
Does paying the fixed fee create an ongoing solicitor-client relationship?
No. Payment of the fixed fee and submission of documents is limited to the fixed-fee review unless a separate ongoing engagement is agreed.
What happens if AI-LAW cannot review my matter?
If AI-LAW is unable to provide the service after reviewing your material, your payment may be refunded.
Ready to submit documents for review?
Complete the intake, upload the relevant material, and submit the matter for a lawyer-reviewed fixed-fee assessment.
